So Shabby Pink - Morning Glory Beauty

Good morning!
I think we had a little rain last night here in south Texas! The air smells fresh and like wet grass.

I love Morning Glories! I plant some seeds each year at the bottom of a lattice trellis and they grow strong --- as long as I water them
every day.  That is a must here with our Texas summer heat.

Once it starts to cool a little, they start to bloom. They sure are beautiful.

Hope you are having a good Saturday morning.  Enjoy the day.

Thanks for coming by....

So Shabby Pink - No More Yard Long Prints

I have some unhappy news.  Our supplier of the beautiful yard longs we have sold for years - has gone out of business.  We had just started carrying them framed too.  So far, that has been the biggest disappointment for us this year.  We are very sad for them also.  They had been there for 30 years.

We still have a few left in stock of the unframed and I will get them on the website soon.

Hope all are doing well and thanks for stopping by!

So Shabby Pink - Monday Menu for me and my Honey

My husband came home early for lunch today and messed up my whole menu planning!  Bless his heart, with meetings all afternoon, he ended up having to eat leftovers instead of the yummy lunch I had planned for him.  This recipe is from Taste of Home website.  It is in the oven now!  I used a small pork tenderloin and adjusted the recipe.

I will use something simple for a side dish like some peas and carrots or green beans.  Love those green beans.

For DESSERT - 5 Cup Salad.  See recipe below.

Herb Crusted Pork Tenderloin
This recipe and photo from Taste of Home

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon-herb seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 bone-in pork loin roast (4 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1/4 cup olive oil, divided
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1-1/2 cups soft bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup minced fresh basil or 4 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh rosemary
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup white wine or chicken broth

Directions

  • In a small bowl, combine the ground mustard, herb seasoning, salt and pepper; rub over roast. In a large skillet, brown roast in 2 tablespoons oil. Place roast fat side up on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Brush top with Dijon mustard. Combine the bread crumbs, cheese, basil, thyme, rosemary, garlic and remaining oil; press onto roast.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 2 to 2-1/4 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 160°. Place on a warm serving platter. Let stand for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
  • Stir wine into roasting pan, scraping to loosen browned bits. Pour into a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; cook until reduced by half. Serve with roast. Yield: 14 servings.

For Dessert - 5 Cup Salad

1 cup coconut
1 cup sour cream
1 cup mandarin oranges
1 cup pineapple pieces
1 cup tiny marshmellows

FOLD all ingredients gently to avoid breaking the mandarin oranges.  You cannot imagine how good this is.  The coconut makes it!

So Shabby Pink Offering FRAMED Yard Long Prints - Finally

I have said "Coming Soon" for quite awhile now on these framed yard longs. This week, we have finally started putting some of them on our website.

These prints will be shipped from the manufacturer which is certainly adding a safety factor.  I have always hesitated shipping 36 inches or more of glass in a picture frame and I now have a viable solution.  They do the shipping for us.  Thank you!

We have received many requests for these.  Here in south Texas, we have every craft store you can think of, including Hobby Lobby, that sells frames at great prices to fit these 3 foot long pictures.  I just thought Hobby Lobby was everywhere, but have learned that is not so!

We will be adding more pictures available for purchase and hope you will visit soon.

Thank you for stopping by today,

Peggy

So Shabby Pink - Blue and White Rooms

Hello!

It sure does not feel like December here in South Texas. It's about 75 degrees, little wind and sunny. My husband cut the grass and chopped up fallen leaves. It's so nice out there!

Although I sell a lot of pink in my business, So Shabby Pink, I have a real passion for blue and am wanting to makes some changes in the house.

See link reference below

No, this is not our bedroom but I am thinking about doing a version of this. I think this is so pretty and very peaceful ! I found some nice fabric very similar to this at Calico Corners.

What was the name of that show on HGTV where they would show a desinger's room that had a very expensive price tag. THEN, they would go out and find furniture and decor to re-create a look alike room for a fraction of the price.....what was the name of that show? This picture is my guide. I won't be able to start until after the new year though. Just too busy this month!

This one can be ordered in multiples.

These are so beautiful on a Christmas tree, especially if you use a lot of the colors I do in your decorations. Please note that a few can be ordered in multiples since we have plenty of that particular
fabric. They are also adorable as a door knob ornament.

What is your Thanksgiving menu? What are the traditional dishes your family makes?

Thanks for stopping by this morning,

Memorail Day in Gruene, TX from So Shabby Pink

We spent a very nice day in Gruene, TX on Memorial Day. What a fun place to go. The weather was perfect (not too hot) and we ate at The Grist Mill. They have the best fried shrimp I have ever eaten.

So Shabby Pink - Slip Cover Project Continues

I am almost embarrassed for you to know it has taken me over a year to finish up this ottoman slip cover. Back in March of 2009 , I started a project that had been waiting for me for a very long time. Now, in October of 2010, I am just finishing only one element of it, the ottoman.

The saying goes that "if you want to get something done, give it to a busy person." I am not so sure that applies to me! There are only 24 hours in a day and I have a bad habit of starting too many projects at one time! Does that sound like any of you?

I still have to hem or put on a skirt...not sure yet.
Here is what it's SUPPOSED to look like
Ottoman from "Slipcovers by Shelly"
This is my first attempt ever at slip covers and I just didn't get the two seams lined up well. I probably should have cut one long piece with only one seam to go all the way around. I am learning!

I will keep going and come back to it after I know I have enough fabric to finish a chair. Here I go!

There are fabulous girls out there that have inspired me to do this. Every time I go look at their blogs, I pull the fabric out and do a little more. This blog -
Pink and Polkadot - got me started. I LOVE this blog! I downloaded her ebook and it has and continues to help me a great deal. I also have a book on slipcovering that I frequently reference.

Other blogs I have read to learn about slip covers are:

Cozy Cottage Slipcovers
Slip Cover Chic
Much To Do With Nothing
Custom Slipcovers by Shelley - I bought her How to Make Slipcover DVD

I will just stick with this project until I get it finished, even if it takes years!
Thanks for stopping by today and I will keep you posted.
