So Shabby Pink - Storage, Small Details and The Unexpected

Hello! It is just another hot Sunday afternoon. Keeping cool inside today.

I am always looking for ways to decrease clutter in our home. There are endless ways to be creative when it comes to storage. My biggest problem, however, when I do something new is to REMEMBER what I did! We were looking for the remote controls recently and I forgot I had created a new place to put them.
PROBLEM: Out of sight....out of mind!

Oh, yes! Now I remember.

I also love the beach and use shells as decor in a few areas. This is my newest. One more place for storage too.

This is our unexpected fireplace screen. If we do use the fireplace, which is rather seldom here in Texas, we remove the vintage wooden screen and there is a metal drawing screen behind it. I don't think my husband has yet adjusted to this and it's been there for years. This is a compromise, however, so he can have some things he wants in other parts of the house. Ladies, sometimes we just have to learn to negotiate with our men!

One of the things that makes a house feel like home, is the small details.

Think I will go sew awhile this afternoon. Adding some blue accents to this mostly white room. It needs a little something different to refresh the look.

Hope all are doing well today and thanks for stopping by.

So Shabby Pink - The Hummingbirds are back!

Hurray! We were just eating lunch and a hummingbird (maybe from last year) came to the spot I hang their feeder. Doesn't it amaze you how they "remember?" They're back!!

Here are some pictures from last summer:

Hope to have more pictures this year. They migrate to Brazil in the winter so
I hope they met new friends and will bring them to our house!
I boiled 4 cups of water with 1 cup of sugar and cooled it off in a hurry. It's out there waiting now and so am I. Dinner is ready!!
Thanks for stopping by!

So Shabby Pink - It's Memorial Day

Hi there.

My husband is retired from the Air Force so we remember all the patriotic holidays. Memorial Day is to remember all those who have died while serving in the military. It was originally known as Decoration Day and was to remember the fallen Union soldiers in the Civil War. It was expanded after WW I to include all.
The meaning of so many of our holidays gets blurred over time. Retailers use them to promote sales. There are picnics and gatherings to have fun, eat and dance. Let's talk a few minutes this weekend and remember what Monday is all about.
Hoping all are well and that you remember those men and women at some point this holiday weekend.

So Shabby Pink - Happy Mother's Day !!

Hello!
Happy Mother's Day from yesterday - to all you mom's out there! You are so special and you really do rule the world!
Well, we decided to try something different - something a little more personal.
We have put together these pretty rose necklaces with a huge clear rhinestone in the center. So far, they are available in our original pink and a darker shade of turquoise we like. The tie is 28" long and, of course, can be adjusted.
We are also going to step outside of our "color palatte comfort zone" and offer a variety of colors we have not used before. You will have to check back periodically at So Shabby Pink since we don't even know what we will end up with! That is the fun part.
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope all is well.
Warm regards,
Peggy

So Shabby Pink - Pretty Roses on Wood

Hello!

Is it Spring yet? I know, I know. I will be complaining about the heat when summer hits, but this has been an unusually cool winter for south Texas. This week has been rather nice, however, with the sun shining and temperatures in the 60's.

Being cooped up can work to my advantage, however. I have a few new products to show you!

Our our sister website, So Shabby Pink Paper, we added some new images for
all your arts and crafts and scrapbooking projects. We found these pretty cologne
bottle labels (above) that are vintage inspired.
Hope all is well with you. Thanks for stopping by.

So Shabby Pink - New Category

Hello there!

We have done some vintage inspired pieces in the past but have focused for quite awhile now on the pretty pastels I like so much. However, our love for things that look old is motivating me to return to that old look of Vintage Whites, our newest category on our website, So Shabby Pink. We distress as usual but then do our little magic "poof" to make them look old and just a little scuffed up. I love the look.

No, I can't just stop there though. Hmmm, what to do.....Rhinestones!!

I have cabin fever and am ready to get outside in the sunshine and ride my bicycle! Looks like a trip to Walmart is next though. I have a flat tire.....!!

So, when it warms up where you are, what are you craving to do?

Hope all of you are doing well and thanks for stopping by,

So Shabby Pink - New Products on Our Website

Hello!

The sun has come out in Texas! I know, in a few months, I'll be complaining about how hot it is, but it sure has been nice to go outside today.

My husband has been in the garage today cutting wood for our new boxes. He is surely known for good workmanship. He mitered the corners, and the bottom is recessed so that it fits flush. Thank goodness he is doing it and not me! Then, I cover all the pretty wood finish with my favorite paint colors!

This one is a tiny bit smaller and I think works nicely for rolled up wash cloths in your romantic bathroom.

This one is a little larger and would be nice to roll up both hand towels and a few washcloths for a guest bathroom.

Both are lined on the bottom with a pink vinyl wallpaper so if you need to, you can wipe it clean with a damp cloth. They come in any of our pretty colors. What a pretty way to display your cologne or make-up bottles on your counter or vanity. Plenty of roses on these. You can find these on our website, So Shabby Pink, and they are now a regular item that can be reordered.
Hope everyone's weekend is going well. Will you be watching the Super Bowl??

Thanks for stopping by!

So Shabby Pink in 28 Day Challenge

Believe me, I am not putting on this challenge. I am not so sure I could get organized enough to put on such a huge venture. No way. I just want to organize my work room closet. It is a disaster! When I get busy, as long I put an item past the work room or closet door frame, I must think it has become invisible or something! Then, at some point, I can't ignore it anymore and have to do something. Anything!

This challenge is being put on by LAURA at "I'm an Organizing Junkie." I love going to her blog. You can subscribe and get emails each time she posts, which she does quite often. She offers menu planning and there is a huge list of other blogs with like interests.

If you want to learn more about the 28 day challenge, you can read about it here. Hope you join in!

Thanks for stopping by!

So Shabby Pink - 15th Wedding Anniversary

Oh! Roses for me?? How sweet! You see, Thursday was our 15th wedding anniversary and after running errands that morning, I came home to roses on the kitchen table! Bless his heart, my husband couldn't find the vase we use to put flowers in, and since I wasn't home when he got there, he just left them on the table.

Gosh, what pretty roses! Since I am a very practical and rather frugal person, if he were to have used something like a real florist or some home delivery flower service, I would have appreciated them, but would have cringed at the price. They are just flowers! After spending half a fortune for a dozen roses years ago, he was probably pretty happy when he learned I felt this way!
Since we have a grocery chain here that sells flowers for a fraction of the cost, I think that is a wiser choice. If you have a Costco in your area, they also have a gorgeous flower selection.

Anyway, I gleefully took them out of the paper and put them in a vase. My arrangement is a little crooked and not perfectly balanced but I think they are beautiful!

This is day 2 of the 7 day guarantee.

I am keeping them on my desk since I spend a lot of time there.

I am not sure which was better, the roses or the contents of the cardboard box laying beside the roses -- a rear window wiper arm for my SUV that needed to be replaced.

You see, the morning I was leaving to go to Dallas for the Home and Gift Show, I was SO anxious to get out of the house and on the road, that I left the hatch up on my Explorer while trying to get out of the garage!! Oh, no.....the wiper arm was dangling from the back window! I can still remember the sound of that thing breaking! NOW what am I going to do? Packing tape! I mega-taped that thing with clear packing tape and off I went!

So, roses ~vs~ window wiper arm....this year was a toss up. Thank you, honey for both!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today! Have a good weekend!

So Shabby Pink - Pictures from Dallas Gift Show

THIS is the loading dock at the World Trade Center. We were far too impatient to get in line for the dock helpers to unload for us, so we parked our vehicles and muscled our haul up the freight elevators ourselves.

It is amazing how they took a space that looked like stoarge and transformed it into an attractive area for vendors.
This is part of the before-------

Set up is coming along nicely.

Our booth had a really calming and dreamy look.

Participants in our booth were:

Kimberly of My Pink Boutique
and Erica of Meadow Street

Here are some pictures from the first floor plaza of
the World Trade Center.

When downstairs on the uncarpeted floor, you hear that clack, clack, clack, clack of the wheels of carts and cases folks are pulling around as they collect information.

The building is 13 floors up. Everything on the ground
floor has an echo that kind of sings against the walls.
I will search my photo file and see if I can find more good pictures.
I appreciate you coming by today!
