Happy Thursday night at 11:45! I am so tired! We've been busy with a variety of things, one of which was my Dad's 97th birthday! Well, I am so ready to get some sleep!
Here are the little metal boards from our last post. We have 3 of these available and 12 of the roses. Each is painted our Peaceful White and distressed to fit into your shabby and warm chic home.
These are sold separately on our website, So Shabby Pink.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

So Shabby Pink Superbowl Eats for Game Time
The Superbowl came and went! Depending on who you were rooting for would, obviously, determine if you enjoyed the game or not. I honestly do prefer a little more competitive game but that isn't how it happened.
We DID, however, enjoy what I cooked up for game time! Every fun event is just an excuse to eat, right? Found this wonderful shrimp and gumbo recipe on the internet and made some homemade biscuits. Opps...not totally the truth. I used Pioneer Baking Mix to make these fantastic "homemade" biscuits.
This cute little magnet board will soon be available on our website for purchase. It's metal and that really pretty rose magnet is metal too.
We had a really pretty day yesterday with sunny skies in th 70's. This was one of the prettiest sunsets I've seen in awhile. Unfortunately, there is more bad weather coming in with ICE again in South Central Texas. Yippie....
Hope all are having a good start to this new week.
Warm regards,
Peggy

So Shabby Pink - Curl Up by the Fire
Just curl up and relax. Kind of peaceful to look at, isn't it?
We don't have a fire very often, but when we do, I use those fake pressed wood logs. They are so pretty and leave very little mess. Not much heat, but it's just pretty, you know?

So Shabby Pink Home Made Latte Recipe with Starbucks (TM) Syrups
Good morning! Coffee time!
As much as I LOVE coffee, I am still very frugal when it comes to how I enjoy it. I've priced some of the popular coffee makers and came sooooo close to buying one the other day. Then I "heard" in my thinking, "Use what you have."
Mine is an older version of this one:
When looking for an espresso maker, years ago I decided on a $79 Mr. Coffee Espresso machine. I had read that the better type is PUMP driven, so found one in a local discount store and bought it. I've used it for years without any problems.
How many of you use a straw to keep from staining your teeth so badly? :-)
Here is one little tip to make your coffee even better. I buy the coffee flavoring syrups at Starbucks. If they have enough, they will sell you a huge bottle for $12.95.
My home made morning latte recipe:
1. 2 shots of espresso (2 oz=1/4 cup)
2. 1 cup of low fat milk (frothed
with the machine.
3. Starbucks(TM) flavoring
4. The steamer doesn't always warm it as
much as I like it, so I just put it
in the microwave.

Happy New Year to all of you!
We are open again and ready to get back to work. My husband has been home this week so, have split my time between work and time with him. I have enjoyed the time off to rest and to reflect on my approach to this new year.
I've never been one to make "official" new year's resolutions but I do have some changes I'd like to make in 2014. What about you??

So Shabby Pink - Colors and Textures of Christmas
I love Chistmas. I mean, I really love it. The smells, the decor, the gifts, the candle light service. I love it all.
My sister just has such good taste. When she buys, she will look for a good deal but always requires quality. She is quite humble about it, but there is no mistaking it.
Aren't these beautiful? The colors and textures of pretty Christmas decor....
The beautiful ornaments were purchased at Neiman Marcus.
The Peanut Brittle was awesome and from the Virginia Diner.

So Shabby Pink DIY with Serger and New Ruffle
Sewing. Our moms did it or at least mine did. She was as good as any professional seamstress, for sure. Because of her, I learned to sew. I don't ever remember sitting and taking lessons from her. I just watched and learned.
I have recently purchased a 60 year old, Singer 915 Centennial sewing machine to do heavy duty work like welting for slipcovers and pillows. It is a work horse! It sits beside my 35 year old Kenmore! They are both testaments of the durability of good 'ol American made products!
Back to mom - In order to create nice seams that did not fray, my mother used pinking shears and then sewed a straight stitch over the jagged edge. It was fairly effective but not very pretty.
That said, there is a wonderful modern machine our moms did not have! The SERGER! Let me show you what it does! Here is the end result of making some pretty ruffle for my very cool cell phone purses.
| PRETTY ROUGH, huh?? |
| Isn't that just beautiful! |
Also, if you are interested in learning to sew, www.craftsy.com/ provides online classes for a very small fee.

So Shabby Pink - I love Housey Blogs! Share your favorites!
I LOVE housey blogs! I love seeing how others decorate their homes. Guess that is why I love estate sales so much. We get to go inside!! I love seeing renovations, especially those with before and after pictures. I love the fact that blogs let us see into others' homes without even taking one step out the front door.
Here is one of my favorite DIY bloggers. I mean, she is truly a DIYer! She has power tools!
http://www.thriftyandchic.com/
Her entry, "Shabby Chic Framed $5 Door Mirror" is a good example.
I really do admire folks that are not afraid to express their own ideas, even if they are different from everyone else.
Hope you will subscribe to her blog! She does post frequently and it never disappoints! GREAT DIY blog!
I would love to see what your favorite blogs are! I never get enough. Post a comment and share!

So Shabby Pink New Wall Decor
I know it's back to school time for all the kids. That hopefully will free up some of you ladies to do some things you may have had to put aside this summer. ALSO, cooler weather is on the way!
It's still so warm here that some of our flowers are still blooming. This is an Angel Trumpet. It blooms during the cooler hours and they fade away during the warmer part of the day. These blooms are about 7 inches long!
