So Shabby Pink - July is Almost Over!

I don't know why I have Christmas on my mind but the older I get, the faster time passes, it seems. It will be upon us before we know it!I hope you will check our website, So Shabby Pink, and our blog entries because we will be having some give always during the holidays.

Is it starting to look like Christmas?

I also bought an item not long ago that is usually sold only during the holiday season. I could not find one of these things in ANY local store. It would seem that summer would be a good time to sell dehydrators because it's the season for fresh fruits and vegetables. I had to special order it from Wal-Mart.

Somehow, I killed my old dehydrator. This is a little nicer as it has a thermostat. Oh, boy!

So far, my favorite dehydrated fruit is apples. If you dehydrate fruit, don't forget to use a product called FRUIT FRESH. It keeps fruit from turning brown. In fact, I use it in my guacamole to keep it fresh and green.

My husband and I also like beef jerky and this appliance makes it simple. It is important to get the temperature of the meat to at least 160 degrees, so I put the marinated meat in the oven for a little while at that temperature before putting it on the dehydrator trays. The appliance comes with excellent instructions and recipe book. Of course, the internet is full of every kind of recipe you could ever want. I will be happy to share some of my results!

So Shabby Pink - A Bowl of Christmas

Howdy!

It is SO hot here in Texas. We are back up to 98 degrees after a nice cooled off week with some rain. So, to talk about Christmas seems premature, HOWEVER, next month is August and at least around here, there will be Christmas trees in some of the stores.

I am starting early this year. I have started making some ornaments that you can use for your shabby chic style or cottage home Christmas tree AND hang on your doorknobs all year long.

Here is a bowl of Christmas! You can see our newest selections and what they look like in detail at So Shabby Pink

Thanks for stopping by.

Next topic: A new dehydrator!

So Shabby Pink - A Heart Felt Thank you to my Sister

I got a box in the mail from my sister, Jean! Look at all the goodies I unpacked.

What a pretty way to dress of white tissue paper!!

Boy, this sure is an improvement over the ugly
spiral one I've been carrying! How did she know?

I just happened to mention the last frigerator notepad she gave me was almost empty...... :-) Thank you!

We both enjoy reading Gloria Copeland's books.

I am very grateful to have a sister like her. I've always looked up to her and still do. She is so talented too. You could give her sticks and she could make something beautiful out of them.

Thank you, Jean! I love you!

So Shabby Pink Won Blog Drawing - Wow!

The last time I can remember winning anything was way back in, oh, about 1974. Yes, 1974. I was very, very young......and won a liter of Pepsi at an office Christmas party. They were getting rid of the unused drinks and I won one!

Well, all that has changed now. Not long ago, I entered a blog give away that Classics and Country Home Decors and Gifts was having on her blog. I stumbled upon her blog while out looking at patriotic stuff around Memorial Day. This entry, Home of the Free Because of the Brave shows an impressive display of all sorts of patriotic gifts in her store! What a nice store she has!

Anyway, I made a comment on one of her posts and won 3rd prize! She not only sent the very pretty plaque I won, but added some great Yankee (TM) votive candles in a cute drawstring bag, Yankee Candles matches, and a great frame easel.

Check out this entry - really nice Vintage apothecary buttons.

I love pink and white and all my pastel colors I work with, but our home is a nice blend of traditional along side my "outside of the box" decorating style. The plaque will fit beautifully in our computer room.

Again, her website is www.classicsandcountry.com

Her store is located at 8365 Richmond Hwy., Alexandria, VA. Stop by and see her!
